Day 24

I am posting a picture of my current project. I have a lot of appointments this week so I am hoping to still be able to get some beadwork done.

Day 23

I didn't post yesterday. I was just too tired. I got home late from running errands and then I had to bake for a potluck at church. So I just went to bed instead of blogging. My favorite beadstore had a great sale yesterday because they are moving to a new location so they will be closed for a few days. I got some new seed bead colors that I needed. There isn't much to choose from when it comes to bead stores in this area. It kind of sucks cause The Bead Factory (my favorite around here) is moving all the way across town from where I live. Today I put the finishing touches on the two wood beaded bracelets. I am starting a loom project for a friend. He asked for a masculine style with natural colors and a fabric backing with velcro closure. I will post a picture of the project in progress tomorrow.

Day 21

1 week until the Launch Party!

I have finished the friendship style bracelets. I also made a necklace with wood beads. I am including pics of the friendship style bracelets , my setup for making the wood necklace, and the finished wood necklace.  I also started 2 bracelets with wood beads.

Day 20

I am home from the hospital and I have been back to work. I have been working on the set I mentioned on day 17. I am making all 5 bracelets in a friendship bracelet style. They are woven on the loom with colored string and the ends are knotted or braided in friendship bracelet style. This is a new idea for me so I am posting a picture of the work in progress. I would love feedback on this idea. Sorry the pic didn't turn out very well. I will post another pic when they are all finished.

Day 19

Sorry I missed posting yesterday. I have some medical issues and I am in the hospital. The doctor says everything is okay but they are keeping me to run some more test. My husband was nice enough to go home and get my laptop so I could post from the hospital. Needless to say I haven't got much beadwork done the last 2 days. I will post again tomorrow and let everyone know how things are going.

Day 17

I finished a bracelet for a friend's daughter. I am posting a picture of it. I used double the string and then strung each line of beads twice to make it extra durable. Kids are hard on jewelry. I am starting a new set of bracelets. There will be 5 in the set. They say 'Love', 'Hope', 'Joy', 'Peace', and 'Faith'. I am trying a new idea with them. I will post a picture of the first one and explain the new idea when I finish it (probably tomorrow).

Day 16

I had a busy day today. I went to church this morning. It seems like my kid's or I am always sick lately so we have missed a lot of church. It was nice to be able to go this morning. Then I finished a kid's bracelet, made dinner, had a rematch of Monopoly with my son (my daughter won today), and started another bracelet. I feel like I accomplished a lot today. That's a good feeling. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Day 15

Today was a really busy day around our house. We had a lot of chores to catch up on as a family. We also had family game night at my son's request. He kicked our but at Monopoly. Needless to say I didn't get much beadwork done. I did do a little work on my current project but that's it.

Day 14

My good friends and advisors came over today. They are helping me start up the business by giving me advise and generally keeping me on track. They are hosting my Launch Party at thier house in a couple of weeks. I have finished the bracelet I was working on and am starting another one. I have several projects I need to get done before the party. Now that I know the date I hope it will motivate me to get more done.

Day 13

I designed another bracelet today. However, I don't have the beads I need to make it so it will have to wait until I can go buy the beads I need. It is a sports themed bracelet. It has a basketball, a football, a soccer ball(that one was hard to design), and a baseball. I have a fabric with sports balls on it that will make a good backing for it. I like to show my kids the patterns and ask them what it is. I figure if an 8yr old and a 6yr old can tell what it is then I did a good job. Plus they like to have input on what I make.

Day 12

The bracelet is almost finished. I just have to put the finishing touches on it now. I am posting a picture of it next to the fabric that was my inspiration. I am also posting a picture of it with the fabric backing on it. Today I typed up some of the forms I will need when my business gets up and running. That took a while and was a headache to do. But its done and saved so I don't have to worry about it. I don't know how much work I will get done tomorrow because my son has a big cub scout meeting tomorrow. He is going up to the next step! He has only been in scouts for a few months so we are very excited.

Day 11

I am posting some more pics of my project in progress. I am about half way done with the weaving. I make cuff-style bracelets among other things. The bracelet I am currently working on I designed to match a fabric I had bought a while ago. The cuff-style bracelets are woven with fabric backing and velcro closures. So the current project will match the backing fabric. I get inspiration from a lot of places but I like to design jewelry for individual tastes. That is why I like to do custom pieces. 

Day 10

Happy Valentine's Day! I have decided what project I am going to do. I made a new design for a woven bracelet. I am posting a picture of my loom all set up, my beads for the project, and the design. I will post more pictures so you can see how the work progresses. I also ordered my business cards today. I will get them in about a week and a half. Office Depot was very helpful and cheap with thier current special.              

Day 9

     Today is my Birthday. I didn't do anything special but I kind of gave myself the day off. My sister-in-law made dinner for me. Except for careing for the kids I really didn't do anything today. I'm trying to decide if I want to make a necklace or the bracelet that I have designed. The design is an American flag. Maybe I will make a set . Like a necklace, earrings, and bracelet that all match.
    I don't know what I will decide to do. I will post which project I am working on tomorrow. Maybe with some pictures too.

Day 8

Still feeling crummy. I have some ideas for new projects. Now I just got to decide which one I want to do first. I have to get some business cards printed up before the launch party. That will be my goal this week (as well as getting more beadwork done).

Day 7

Im actually posting a bit late for day 7. I have a nasty virus so I just went to bed last night instead of posting. It seems like everyone around me is getting sick and now me too. I did manage to get another necklace done. I am posting a picture of it in progress. Check out my Facebook for more pics.

Day 6

My girls are starting to feel better. I spent a good part of the day on housework but I still managed to get some beadwork done. I did some work on a woven bracelet and I picked out beads for my next project. It will be a necklace and I think I will post some photos as I make it. Then everyone can see a work in progress. Feel free to give suggestions or comments.

Day 5

Both my girls are sick so I didn't get much beadwork done today. I am going to post more pictures of my latest projects on Facebook within the next couple of days. Please check out the pictures already posted there.

Day 4

It was very hard to get anything accomplished today. My daughter is sick and the baby is crabby. I did manage to get a little bit done, and I did quite a bit yesterday. I guess everyone has days like that.

Day 3

Starting a new bracelet on the loom today. It is going to have a dark background with pastel colored crosses on it. I realize today that I really need to get more organized when it comes to my beadwork. I will have to set aside a day to sort through everything.

Packers won! And I got the bracelet finished. I also made another small bracelet. Who-hoo, 2 in one day!

Day2

It's superbowl sunday! I have a lot planned today but I am determined to get some beadwork done. Even if I have to take it to my sister-in-laws and work on it while I watch the game. As of right now the bracelet I'm working on is about half way finished. I need to finish the loom work then add the backing and closure.I will post this evening again. Lets see how much I get done by then.

Day 1

Well, my goal for this week is to get as many projects done as I can. My advisor in business matters has suggested that we plan a launch party. The purpose of this party is to raise money to start the business. So I need to get some projects done so I have a good selection for the party. Today wasn't a very productive day. The kids had tutoring this morning, then we had several errands to run (the beginning of the month is always full of errands), then we were invited over to relative's house for dinner. So overall I was a slacker today. It is much easier to get projects done when I know someone is waiting for them. Doing them just to add to my selection means I have to give myself deadline. Well, at least I made time to blog, right?

Newbie

This is my first time ever blogging , so if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. My blog will mostly be about my beadwork and the business I am getting ready to start. This is a big step for me and I am very nervous. I will keep everyone updated on my steps to starting a business and also how nerve wracking it is (or isn't).
